Paintings
Do you do commissions?
Yes, please contact me on info@kathrynsillince.com for any commissions or collaborations you have in mind, and I’ll get back to you within 24-48 hours. Kathryn responds to all emails personally.
Do you have any original paintings for sale right now?
All original paintings currently for sale can be found in my shop under “Original Paintings”.
Why are there are no original paintings for sale in your shop?
If there are none for sale it means they have all sold, but there are always new works in the pipeline.
I missed out on your last collection of originals, how do I find out when the next lot go on sale?
The best way to hear about my upcoming work is to sign up to my newsletter and you will receive an email before any new art goes on sale. You’ll also be first in the loop to hear about secret sales and other offers, news and blog posts.
What medium do you use?
I use oils, acrylics and mixed media with some metallic paints on canvas. The canvases I use are all handmade by myself, using premium solid wooden stretcher bars, which are made in the UK, from wood that has been responsibly sourced and is both FSC & PEFC certified; the museum and gallery bars I use for my paintings are an excellent product that give each work strength and extra gravitas, ensuring longevity for years to come.
I then painstakingly prime each canvas at least three times which I’ve found gives me the smoothest whitest launchpad for the beautiful translucent colours I use in creating each painting.
I've bought my original painting, will it come ready to hang?
Original paintings up to 40 x 40" come stretched, wired and ready to hang. Larger pieces are shipped rolled in a tube and need to be brought to a framer for re-stretching.
Prints
What type of prints do you create?
I offer Archival Pigment prints, on either paper or canvas. The prints currently available in my shop are a Limited Edition of 250 unless otherwise stated.
Do you make prints of all your original paintings?
Not all of them, only certain paintings from each collection are reproduced as a print.
What is the difference between a paper print and a canvas print?
The paper print is printed on cotton rag paper and comes with a white inch border. Paper prints need to be framed behind glass to protect against UV damage, moisture and dust. Canvas prints are printed on canvas and come with a two inch border to allow for stretching. Canvas prints have a varnish applied to protect against UV damage moisture and dust.
Do the prints come framed?
No, all prints, both paper and canvas are shipped rolled in a tube and would need to be taken to your local framers. Canvas prints need to be stretched. Once stretched, they are ready to hang, but a simple box frame or floating frame can be placed around them. I prefer a simple box frame but it's down to your personal taste. Paper prints should be framed behind glass - with or without a mount ( I prefer a 4 or 5 inch mount).
Do you sign your prints?
Yes, all prints are hand-signed by Kathryn. Paper prints are signed, titled and numbered on the front, in the white inch border. Canvas prints are signed titled and numbered on the back.
If I order a print on canvas does that mean it’s an original painting?
No, if you order a print on canvas it is just that – a limited edition print, a reproduction of an original painting.
I love this print, it’s square in shape– can you make it rectangular?
I’m afraid I don’t crop any of my prints. I do rectangular paintings from time to time, but generally I really love working in the square. I can accommodate custom sizing as long as it doesn't compromise the image. Please email me on info@kathrynsillince.com for more information on custom orders.
Is there added texture on the prints?
There is no added texture on the prints, all prints have a flat, matte finish.

Returns
What if my piece gets lost or damaged?
If your piece gets lost or damaged, we offer a replacement or full refund. Prints must be returned in its original packaging.
What if I change my mind?
Due to the sensitive nature of transporting art, returns and exchanges are not offered on prints or original works of art simply for change of mind.
All artwork is handled with the utmost care during the printing and packaging process. In the unlikely circumstance of your delivery being damaged in transit, please photograph the packaging PRIOR to opening the delivery and then photograph the damaged art inside.
From the moment a painting is made, it begins to age. As the painting continues to age, both the paint film and priming lose flexibility and become brittle. Expansion and contraction of the canvas fabric support, due to absorption and release of moisture from the air, adds further strain which can lead to crack formation.
With this in mind, it is advisable to keep your originals and prints, framed or unframed, in a cool dry room, without too much direct light, to avoid moisture getting into the fabric of the print or the canvas. Framing prints under glass helps preserve prints to keep them looking their best to last for many years to come!
I do not accept any returns based on artwork ageing.
Send images to info@kathrynsillince.com and I will replace your print with an identical one. For originals or small originals that are damaged during transit, I will replace it with a commission.
